In New Encounter Trailer Riz Ahmed Is On A Mission

Amazon Prime Video have released the official second Trailer for sci-fi thriller Encounter starring Riz Ahmed.

2021 has been a momentous year for the British actor winning numerous awards for Sound Of Metal, Mogul Mowgli including a BAFTA. His latest film sees him once again starring in an Amazon Studios is with British filmmaker Michael Pearce (Beast). The film does look like to have a story maybe similar to Jeff Nichols Midnight Special.

Ahmed plays a decorated ex-Marine, a man on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from an unhuman threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind.

Our reviews editor Scott J Davis watched the film at Toronto Film Festival, saying the film “gets lost in the strange tonality of the film that, despite its very best intentions and some visually stirring moments, just can’t settle on what story it wants to tell“.

The trailer itself doesn’t reveal what Ahmed’s character and sons are running from. He is armed and you wonder if the mysterious force is actually ‘other worldly’ or he’s suffering from PTSD?

Encounter will receive an limited UK cinema release from 3rd December, then a week later 10th December on Amazon Prime Video.
