In Netflix’s Girlboss Trailer Britt Robertson Is A ‘Nasty Gal’

Girlboss

Online retail therapy can truly be a bitch but if you know how to navigate around the sites, you too can be a bitch and in Girlboss, Britt Roberston, is one. Girlboss is inspired by the New York Times best-selling book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. The series centres on Amoruso (Britt Robertson), who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 27, had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal.

โ€œYou know how people flip houses? Well, I flip clothes,โ€

How much of Amorusoโ€™s entrepreneurial path Girlboss will follow is hard to know at this stage, however, the trailer does say it’s loosely based. In the opening scene from the trailer, we get a taste of how talented an entrepreneur she is when she buys a vintage leather jacket. Buying it for only $9 (about ยฃ6.50 UK) and selling it on eBay for 0ver $600 but things don’t always go right for her. She eventually goes on to set her own site up thus starts the successful part of Nasty Gal. “Go ahead, underestimate me. I’ve got it all figured out.”.

When it comes to the entrepreneurs in Television or Movies, we usually see the men, not the successful women. It will be great to see the ruthlessness, the flaws, the success from a female perspective. Don’t expect Nasty Gal’s recent financial troubles to make this Netflix Originals TV Show, which saw BooHoo buying the company out and Amoruso stepping down.

Bossgirl will be released in 13 30 minute episodes on Netflix, premiering Friday 21st April globally including UK & Ireland. Starring Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley, Johnny Simmons and Dean Norris.
