Hold your breath as you watch the first look at Brian Duffield‘s (No One Will Save You) latest film which stars Austin Abrams. We all know the biblical story of Jonah And The Whale will the Weapons actor find his escape?
Humans and great oceans don’t always go well when it comes to surviving. From Jaws, The Shallows, All Is Lost, even Underwater things don’t always end well. Whalefall follows one man’s epic encounter with a sperm whale. He goes scuba diving in search of his father’s boat remains when he is swallowed alive by a whale!
Whilst I’ve mentioned earlier some Ocean based survival films, this seems to tap into the sub-genre. This feels tonally unsettling, very intense and suffocating, which teases your curiosities, “how will he escape alive”?
The film’s cast also includes Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, and Emily Rudd.
Synopsis | Following the death of his father (Josh Brolin), Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams) goes diving off the central Coast of California in search of his remains, but is swallowed by a massive sperm whale. While trapped inside its belly with only one hour of oxygen left, Jay comes to realize that the hard-earned lessons his father imparted may be the key to his escape.
Whalefall will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 16th October.
