Hidden Figures Featurette Looks At The Black Women Behind NASA

There’s an old saying behind every great man, there’s a great woman, a saying that can be easily adopted in many ways. One way is behind every great organisation there’s great women and NASA have a set of women they have to thank for and Hidden Figures will tell there story. Today we get a first look, a behind the scenes featurette called ‘Hidden People‘ that looks at these great women, African American women that helped USA get into space….

“What they did had a lot to do with where we are in space and science today” comments Taraji P. Henson in this behind the scenes sneak peek of Ted Melfi’s forthcoming biopic of the African-American women behind NASA’s space race triumph,

Producer Pharrell Williams highlights in the clip,”what they were responsible for would go on to change the history of [the United States].” These talented women lived in a era where many believed their only place was at home with the children not in the offices of Nasa. This was also an era when racism was rife in American society too.

Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanised the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

Recently the American trailer of this film was released with early talk that this was an contender for next Oscars. Making this film a mouth watering prospect, most off all an fascinating story we must learn about.
