Just when he thought he had enough of ‘time travelling’ in the Tardis  Former Time Lord Matt Smith has now landed his second role in a Hollywood  film, Hasta La Vista Doctor Who  your going to be in the new Terminator reboot!

Paramount Pictures  announced today along with Skydance Productions  Smith will play a ‘major role’ (according to Deadline) not just in Terminator:Genesis but also movies 2 and 3. What that role is what Paramount have told us, that he has a strong connection to John Connor who will be played by Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes star  Jason Clarke.

The Fez loving 11th Doctor Matt Smith will star alongside Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke who will play Sarah Connor with Australian actor Jai Courtney (Divergent)as Kyle Reese. Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his iconic role as the emotionless cyborg assassin with J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee making up the rest of cast.

Whilst the response to a Terminator reboot didn’t light up  anyone but as more of the cast is announced the upcoming franchise is getting interesting. It’s news that open up the eyes of not just sci-fi fans but film fans in general, so what will that ‘major role’ be? With Terminator:Genesis been been rebooted there is nothing to say Matt Smith could easily play a villain? With cunning charismatic character he played so well having a Human antagonist could do wonders to the series.

Will Matt Smith do what David Tennant couldn’t achieve and conquer Hollywood? He’s certainly pushing higher than the popular Scottish actor could do and his first foray will be in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River(aka How To Catch A Monster) which also will star Christina Hendrick,  which will make it’s Cannes premiere later this month.

Terminator:Genesis will be released in UK on 1st July 2015 in what’s looking like a action packed Summer of many blockbusters! So what’s your views on this news?
