Hassan Nazer’s Winners Gets A UK Trailer

This coming Friday, 17th March Modern Films will release Hazan Nazers Winners in UK Cinemas. Today they have sent us over the film’s official UK Trailer.

The film is a celebration of not only classic Iranian cinema, but also world cinema as a whole. Nazer, whilst born in Iran, grew up and lives in Scotland and hails the film as a bridge between his two homes, one that ties cultures peacefully and harmoniously together.

The film is set in a small Iranian town and children scavenge through a local dump. Looking for valuable items to sell which will bring some income to their families. When a young film obsessed boy finds a Oscar statue in the sand, with his friend they go and search for the owner.

Children in a small provincial Iranian town scour the local dump, looking for valuable materials they can sell to support their families. One day, film-obsessed nine-year-old Yahya and his best friend Leyla find an Oscar statue in the sand. After Yahya’s boss Nazer Khan (played by Reza Naji) agrees to help them locate the statue’s owner, their quest to return it becomes a story of friendship and a shared love of cinema.

This affectionate homage to Iranian cinema was the Official UK Entry for the Best International Feature at the 2023 Academy Awards® and won several accolades, such as the Audience Award at THE 2022 Edinburgh International Film Festival where it premiered, as well as the Best UK Feature Award at the 2022 Raindance Film Festival. It was also the recipient of the 2022 BIFA Raindance Discovery Award, and Breakthrough Producer Award.

The film’s cast includes Reza Naji, Hossein Abedini, Mahmoud Jafari, and Shahrzad Kamalzadeh.

Winners will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 17th March.
