Hanna is an action film which offers more than just high speed chases. Hanna (Academy Award® nominee Saoirse Ronan – Atonement) is a sixteen year old girl with a peculiar upbringing. Raised by her beloved father Erik (Eric Bana – Black Hawk Down, The Hulk) she has been home-schooled with nothing but an encyclopaedia and a copy of Grimms Fairy Tales to fuel her inquisitiveness about the world. But alongside this education, Erik (former member of the CIA) has also trained his daughter in hunting, self-defence and combat, making her a teenager like no other and the perfect soldier-assassin.
When the time finally comes for Erik to let go and allow Hanna to go out into the world alone for the first time, unfinished business for her family leaves her battling for her life as she embarks upon the mission that she was always destined for.
She plans to reunite with her father in Berlin, but before long she is captured by agents dispatched by ruthless intelligence operative Marissa Wiegler (Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett – The Aviator), who harbours secrets relating to Hanna and Erik. Hanna is detained for observation beneath the Moroccan desert but employs her second-to-none wits to escape. This leaves Marissa and her associates in deadly pursuit of her through a range of unfamiliar landscapes across Europe, which Hanna quickly has to learn to comprehend and navigate. As Hanna nears her final destination, she faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
