Get to know the Green Room cast

It’s not often that a film can cobble together an ensemble of the most talented up-and-coming young actors currently treading the boards in Hollywood. Green Room, out on Blu-ray and DVD September 19, does, and many of the desperately cool cast hail from our very own shores. Here’s a who’s who of the bright young things starring in Green Room and where you’ll be able to see them next:

Callum Turner

Brit actor Callum Turner may be a name you are yet to hear, but he’s achieved the high accolade of ‘Star of Tomorrow’ by Screen International. Having been discovered after appearing as a model in Burberry adverts shot by Mario Testino, Callum was cast as a Bill Rohan in Queen and Country, a sequel to 1987’s Hope and Glory (John Boorman’s semi-autobiographical film about a young lad growing up in London during the blitz). Callum has also starred extensively on the UK’s small screen, in the BBC’s Ripper Street, C4’s hard-hitting Glue as Eli, and War and Peace. Callum recently appeared alongside Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy in Victor Frankenstein and is soon to hit the big screen again, playing Nathan in cult gamer adaptation Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, and alongside Jeff Bridges in The Only Living Boy in New York.

Imogen Poots

Imogen is fast-becoming one to watch in Hollywood, having been born and raised in London, you’ll probably have seen her face in any number of films, and soon, many more. Imogen’s notable first appearance was gracing our screens as young Valerie in V for Vendetta after graduating from the BBC’s Casualty. Imogen has appeared in seminal Brit films 28 Weeks Later, Filth, and Me and Orson Welles, moving on to US productions Need for Speed with Aaron Paul, Fright Night (with Green Room co-star Anton Yelchin) and She’s Funny that Way with Owen Wilson. Imogen’s future acting career looks rosy, with starring roles scheduled in upcoming films including The Sleeping Shepherd with Willem Defoe, and festival fodder including Mobile Home, Friday’s Child and Sweet Virginia.

Joe Cole

Best known for his role in the award-winning BBC gangster series Peaky Blinders, London-born Joe Cole plays John Shelby, the younger brother of Cillian Murphy’s Thomas, with Joe’s real life younger brother playing Michael Shelby in the series. After failing to get the grades for university, Joe enrolled on a National Youth Theatre course leading to a brief stint on the West End stage, he then trod the path of many a young Brit actor with bit parts in The Bill, Holby City and youth drama Skins. After achieving notoriety as John in Peaky Blinders, Joe branched out into the world of Hollywood, with acting credits in A Long Way Down with Green Room co-star Imogen Poots and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, and Secret In Their Eyes with Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. Joe will be seen next in Woodshock with Kirsten Dunst, Thank You for Your Service with Amy Schumer, and A Prayer Before Dawn as Billy Moore.

Alia Shawkat

Alia is a well-known face on television screens, appearing as Maeby Funke in all 68 episodes of in long-running, re-commissioned-by-popular-demand series Arrested Development, winning both accolades and awards. No stranger to the film scene, Alia’s whopping credit list shows appearances in Three Kings, with George Clooney, Whip It with Ellen Page, Ruby Sparks with Paul Dano, and Life After Beth with John C. Reilly amongst many more. Recently climbing up the billings, Alia has appeared in Judd Apatow’s Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, Me Him Her alongside Geena Davis, and Driftless Area with Anton Yelchin. She will soon appear in the big screen vehicles 20th Century Women with Elle Fanning and Greta Gerwig, and Izzy Gets the F*** out of Town with Haley Joel Osment.
