George Franju‘s Eyes Without a Face (1960) is getting a 4K UHD upgrade thanks to BFI in October.

Franjus  horror  is a once cruel and tender unique blend of pulp, horror and poetry has been a major influence on filmmakers, is  – from Jesús Franco and John Carpenter to Pedro Almodóvar. Next month  the BFI brings it to UHD with special features including a new audio commentary.

Dr Génessier (Pierre Brasseur, Les Enfants du Paradis) is a brilliant and obsessive plastic surgeon driven by the need to restore his daughter’s (Edith Scob, Judex) disfigured face. He is aided in this quest by his loyal assistant (Alida Valli, Suspiria) who lures unwitting young women to the secret surgery in his secluded chateau.
