Dreamworks have unleashed the first trailer for the 2011 remake of the classic 1985 movie FRIGHT NIGHT. The modern version stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Tennant and Imogen Poots, with Craig Gillespie directing. In the age of every other movie either being a comic book or an unnecessary remake, what we see below does look like a credible attempt to recreate a popular movie 26 years on. When you go in to franchises or cult movies, this is when people will get nervous or even angry about the prospect of it being remade (Blade Runner perfect example). If the movie did show potential when originally released but never really made it at box office, then you can sort of give them a another chance.

There is a concerning thing though, there’s no vampire hunter ( Peter Vincent aka the Doctor, David Tennent) in this trailer and if I remember rightly; Fright Night was always part comedy? Hopefully Peter Vincent is the right man to bring the comedy in to the movie and that should be sorted for the next trailer. Check out the new poster below which does resemble the original.

FRIGHT NIGHT (3D) should be with us here in UK & Ireland from September 2nd (August 19th USA).

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: heโ€™s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, heโ€™s so cool heโ€™s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but thereโ€™s something not quite rightโ€”but everyone, including Charlieโ€™s mom (Toni Collette), doesnโ€™t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.
