Fans of David Cronenberg your long wait is nearly over and Neon Pictures, tease that news with the first teaser Trailer for Crimes Of The Future.
Eight long years since Map Of The Stars was released, the latest promo teases the Canadian filmmaker is going back to his roots…body horror! And yes folks this is straight up trademark Cronenbergian!
It’s only a few hours ago the film was announced as part of the Competition strand at Cannes Film Festival 2022 line up. The film stars Viggo Mortensen, Lea Seydoux and Kristen Stewart which is set in the near future.ย A future where humans have adapted to a synthetic environment, transforming and mutating . A performance artist (Mortensen) publicly showcases his metamorphosis of his organs, whilst finding himself under investigation.
This looks like Cronenberg is once again questioning the meaning of life. A philosophical film hopefully one that highlights he’s back on form!
As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Lรฉa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), a celebrity performance artist in this future, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealedโฆ Their mission โ to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.
The film also stars ย Scott Speedman Welket Bunguรฉ ,Don McKellar, Lihi Kornowski, Tanaya Beatty, Nadia Litz, Yorgos Karamichos, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.
We don’t know who will distribute Crimes Of The Future in the UK and Ireland. Neon Pictures will release the film in the U.S with June seen as a potential release period.
