First Look Images For Apple TV Period Drama The Essex Serpent

Apple TV+ have revealed a glimpse at there upcoming period limited drama series The Essex Serpent, with a trio of first look images.

The much anticipated six-episode Apple Original limited series based on Sarah Perry’s bestselling novel of the same name will debut globally in May.

The stellar cast is led by Homeland star Claire Danes, and Loki himself Tom Hiddleston. They are joined by Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires.

The Essex Serpent follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.

The Essex Serpent is directed by BAFTA Award-nominee Clio Barnard, whose most recent film Ali & Ava was recently released in UK and Irish cinemas. The director did mention she was working on the series however couldn’t mention much about the series until now.

The series is written by BAFTA Award-nominee Anna Symon. Barnard and Symon also serve as executive producers alongside Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Patrick Walters. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films.

The Essex Serpent will premiere Globally on Friday, 13th May  on Apple TV+ with the first episodes.
