First Look At Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia

The film is set to open this year’s Venice Film Festival

In August, the 82nd Venice Film Festival will take place and the festival unveiled Paolo Sorrentino‘s La Grazia will be the opening film.

Niche global distributor, streaming service MUBI will be releasing the film this year. Today they unveil a first look image from the Oscarยฎ-winning writer and director latest feature.

La Grazia (or Grace in English), stars Toni Servillo (The Hand of God, The Great Beauty) and Anna Ferzetti (Diamanti, Tomorrow’s a New Day). At this stage there is no details on the film’s actual plot.

โ€œI like to recall that one of the most important and internationally acclaimed Italian auteurs made his debut right here at the Biennale di Venezia in 2001 with his first film, One Man Up, in my early years as the artistic director.โ€ said Festivalย  director Alberto Barbera.ย  โ€œThe relationship with the Venice Film Festival became consolidated over the years with the presentation out of competition of the first episodes in the series The Young Pope (seasons one and two) and, above all, with The Hand of God which, in 2021, won the Silver Lion-Grand Jury Prize.โ€ (source: THR)

MUBI owns the worldwide rights excluding Italy,ย  which PiperFilm will handle. The Match Factory will sell all remaining territories. The cinematic release plans will be announced in the coming months.

La Grazia, written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty, The Hand of God). The film is a Fremantle film produced by The Apartment, a Fremantle Company, by Numero 10, and by PiperFilm that will distribute it in Italy.

The 82nd Venice Film Festival will take place between 27th August and 6th September.
