First Look At Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Apple Series Surface

Apple TV+ Have sent over to us a first look image for their new thriller series Surface starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

The series is created by Ugly Betty creator Veronica West.ย Mbatha-Raw will play a woman with extreme memory loss attempting to patch her life back together. The loss all comes thank to a head trauma and possible suicide attempt. Husband and friends try help her leading her to question if what she’s been told is actually true.

The new image below might not reveal any clues to what’s going on. It seems this is how our lead character finds herself after the trauma…

Set in high-end San Francisco, โ€œSurface,โ€ stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (โ€œThe Morning Showโ€) who also executive produces, as Sophie, a woman who has suffered a traumatic head injury that has left her with extreme memory loss, believed to be a result of a suicide attempt. As Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to question whether or not the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived. Through twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, this sexy, elevated thriller asks: What if you woke up one day and didnโ€™t know your own secrets? โ€œSurfaceโ€ is a story of self- discovery which contemplates if we are pre-programmed to become who we are, or if we choose our own identity.

The ensemble cast starring alongside Mbatha-Raw includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House), Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk), Ari Graynor (Iโ€™m Dying Up Here),ย  Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & Lies), Franรงois Arnaud (I Killed My Mother) and Millie Brady (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

Surface will premiere globally with the first three episodes on Friday 29th July on Apple TV+, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.
