First Look At Disney Animation’s First Marvel Movie Big Hero 6
2009 Walt Disney Pictures raised a few eyebrows when they purchased Marvel Entertainment but like any new asset speculation is rife. With Marvel a staple in comic book live action blockbusters it was just the matter of time before Marvel has it’s first animated feature and Late 2014 Big Hero 6 will arrive. To introduces to the project Disney have sent us the first look at the film with a look at concept art and a short snippet of footage giving us an idea of the style we can expect.
Big Hero 6 is based on a Marvel comic of the same name about Hiro Hamada, a robotics prodigy living in the hi-tech city of San Fransokyo. Hiro creates a supergroup of crime fighters along with his robot companion Baymax after he stumbles across a plot to destroy his city.
It’s early to say who will making up the voice cast, Winnie The Pooh director Don Hall will be directing the film and it looks like the comic was created at the height of popularity of Manga/Anime in USA hence the Japanese feel as well as Baymax looking more like a robot from Gundam than a western style cartoon. I don’t know much about Big Hero 6 but with Disney animation behind the project we have faith they will pull it off.
Big Hero 6 is set for 7th November 2014 American release date, No UK&Irish date confirmed so don’t be surprised if its early 2015.
