First look at Amy Schumer in Apatow’s ‘Trainwreck’
Judd Apatow is one of the biggest names in comedy from, having directed films such as The 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, and producing much more from TV series Girls to Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids. Now he is teaming up with comedian Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) to tell her semi-autobiographical tale in Trainwreck.
After divorcing her mother, Amy’s father forces home the message to her and her sister, that ‘monogamy isn’t realistic’. As the years tick over, the sisters have both chosen different paths. Whereas her sister Kim (Brie Larson) has settled down, and is married with kids, Amy has taken her father’s message to heart, and has had a long string of one-night stands. That is until she meets sports doctor Aaron (Bill Hader)…
Although quite well-established in the US with her sketch show Inside Amy Schumer, Schumer has yet to have a big break on this side of the pond. With Apatow’s knack for recognising new comedic talent (Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen), and Schumer on writing duties, drawing as she often does from her own life experience, hopefully this will be Schumer’s chance to shine. It will certainly be interesting to see how Apatow’s first film that he hasn’t written himself will be received.
Schumer is joined by a great cast, including Bill Hader, Vanessa Bayer, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton and Colin Quinn.
Trainwreck will be hitting UK cinemas on 28th August 2015.
