There was one time they said the revolution would be televised. In Amy Poehler‘s Moxie that revolution will be ‘streamed’ a coming of age revolution. Netflix today have released the Trailer for their latest ‘Original’ film as rebellions of the past used to challenge the status quo at school.
Hadley Robinson stars as Vivien a shy but fed up 16 year old girl. Fed up with the sexist and toxic status quo at her high school, Vivien takes inspiration from her motherโs rebellious past. She anonymously publishes a zine that sparks a school-wide, coming-of-rage revolution.
Could this be a 21st century update of Election? This is a very uplifting film that looks funny, here’s hoping it’s empowering in this toxic world.
Vivian (Hadley Robinson), a seemingly shy 16-year-old, has always preferred to keep her head down and fly under the radar. But when the arrival of a new student (Alycia Pascual-Peรฑa) forces her to examine the unchecked behaviour of her fellow students running rampant at her high school, Vivian realizes sheโs fed up. Inspired by her motherโs (Amy Poehler) rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her high school, and unexpectedly sparks a movement. Now at the centre of a revolution, Vivian begins to forge new friendships with other young women and allies, reaching across the divide of cliques and clubs as they learn to navigate the highs and lows of high school together.

The Netflix Original film also stars Lauren Tsai, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Nico Hiraga, Sydney Park, Josephine Langford, Clark Gregg, Josie Totah, Anjelika Washington, Charlie Hall, and Sabrina Haskett, with Ike Barinholtz and Marcia Gay Harden.
Moxie will launch on Netflix on 3rd March 2021.
