Film Review – USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016)

USS Indianapolis is the heart bounding War, Thriller starring Nicolas Cage. From Lionsgate UK Entertainment. Released on Digital Download and limited Cinemas across the UK on 19th December and with a January 9th DVD and Blu-Ray release. This film is one to get for all Cage Fans.

Following the navy cruiser that took the atomic bomb, which would ultimately play a part in the end of world War II. The navy liner, on its journey home, is torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. This leads to Captain Charles McVay (Cage) and his men stranded in the shark infested ocean, fighting for their lives.

USS Indianapolis was pretty epic, to say the least. It had such powerful moments and was seriously heart bounding, although it was not the greatest film in the world it did have a lot going for it.

I think my favourite thing about this film was the CGI the sharks looked incredible. They were truly frightening and it really did get the heart pumping. Everything about this film was great. Although as I say there were moments where the film lacked something.

That brings me to what I did not like. The film runs for over 2 hours, and that is totally fine, but this film could have easily have been and hour and a half, there were many scenes that I found myself feeling less interested in the film and wanted the film to go back to the action.

Despite this, though, the film remains pretty solid for the most part and is pretty nail biting when it needs to be. Solid, action packed and full of epic action sequences. USS Indianapolis I think many people will enjoy, and in fact, I think it’s one of Cage’s better performances of his recent film adventures.

I would certainly say give this film a go, it will be worth it if you are an action film fan as I think it is a pretty decent attempt at an action thriller, although some boring moments where the film lags a little, that can be forgiven, though, as I think there are moments, stronger, that pick the film up.
