Synopsis
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers now takes on the starring role of his own contemporary comedy. In PETER RABBIT™, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as their fight to gain control of McGregor’s coveted vegetable garden and the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne) extends to the Lake District and London. James Corden voices the character of Peter with a playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.
Review
We enjoyed this film with my son sitting in his seat for the whole movie. He’s 6 and very active minded, so for him to sit and watch a whole movie is a great sign that it’s a good one. He sat and laughed out loud and had discussions with me over the various characters.
The story starts with how Bea (Beatrix Potter) looks out for the rabbits against the mean old Mr McGregor before he dies of a heartache and his relative takes over the house, only this McGregor is very much younger, but despises all the wildlife creatures just as much.
When Mr McGregor meets Bea he falls in love and we watch how her head is turned and the war between rabbit and man begins!
Peter is a very mischievous, cheeky, bold rabbit and takes on the human in various ways, including a rather controversial allergic reaction scene, but in continuing this feud Peter runs the risk of the rabbits losing everything, including their home.
Overall though, this is a comedy, a great family film which will have the whole family laughing, even dad enjoyed this one! Laughing at the very slapstick humour with the humans falling over themselves. It’s these scenes that appear to adults as well as children.
The appeal of this film is that it’s Beatrix Potter who has a huge following, and it’s the adorable Peter Rabbit. With the adult elements of the film and just general silliness of some scenes, it will appeal to adults as well as children. It is no surprise this film is a $300+ million Box Office Hit.
