Film Review – Me, Myself And Di (2021)

Beaming with positivity, birthday girl Janet Brown (irrepressible Katy Clayton) wins a holiday to Rhyl, North-Wales; in a raffle at the local before spontaneously deciding to take reluctant, unpredictable life-long friend Diane (Lucy Pinder) for cocktails and dreams by her side, to the seaside.
Deciding to go, Diane holds a secret from boyfriend, Janet’s happy-go-lucky brother Andy (Wim Snape).
This broad British comedy mostly takes place at the Craven Caravan Park with unlucky in love Janet falling for mild mannered pianist and family owner, Jon Craven (Tyger Drew-Honey) whom have instant chemistry basking in their misinformed togetherness.
Diane encourages Janet to act posh and proper instead of being herself, which in turn backfires and disrupts both the romance and their longstanding friendship.
Charmingly written by Samantha Lloyd creating a delightful story of blossoming love, has her energetic ensemble cast to thank for irresistible precedence on showcasing truly feel-good vibes throughout the connected screenplay. Quaint cinematography pipes up the look of the vast line of caravans and their surrounds.
Under the radar Georgia Lock as ‘Minty’ Craven is another highpoint, recognising her usually awkward brother has affection for Janet, she encourages both to be themselves.
Undivided beauty, rising star Katy Clayton, dominates her every Janet moment with a big smile and joyous, inspired warmth.
Gaudy Diane, passionately played with comedic ‘Carry On’ style by Lucy Pinder, is full of variable emotions, funny, sad, bitter and suggestive, sometimes all at once.
This acting duo share favourable chemistry in which we may see again in a potential return of Janet Brown, implied during the end credits.
Entertaining romantic distraction with more than meets the eye.
