Film Review – Looted (2019)
Lost youth in the mix of casual criminality boosting cars in exchange for a quick payday elevates into higher stakes for two best friends since childhood offered their biggest job yet, but this theft might be their last.
Rob (Charley Palmer Rothwell) juggles his risqué lifestyle with the responsibility of home-caring after his ailing father, a former docks worker suffering from onsite exposure to asbestos.
His unpredictable juvenile mate, Leo (Thomas Turgoose) knows nothing else but being an obnoxious jerk and constant bad influence on all who associate with him, including Rob who’s got reservations about this latest assignment.
A developing friendship evolves between Leo’s long-suffering girlfriend Kasia (Morgane Polanski) and Rob, she also shows compassion towards his sick dad by listening to his stories and visiting his bedside unannounced. Signs of friendship with potential romance between Rob and Kasia is apparent.
Things go incredibly wrong with the promised big score putting Rob in a situation where he cannot be there to help his terminal father. Emotions run high, much more than just a mundane crime thriller, friendships and decisions have to be made by these young adults with bleak opportunities for their future.
