Film Review – Beyond the Woods (2017)

Beyond The Woods is the newest horror film released from Left films, already available to download now and on DVD from February 19th, 2018.

Once again Left films to come out strong with another fantastic release. I have been a fan, and have been given the chance to review a few Left Films releases in the past year or so. Which I am grateful for. I was excited and interested in this film when it was offered to me.

Coming to us from Ireland Beyond the Woods is a supernatural horror film about a group of friends in their late 20’s who reunite after years of not being able to spend a lot of time together, mainly due to such things as work, marriage, and other such things. As the weekend goes on, full of party games, drinking, and drug use, strange things begin to happen and one by one the group start to be picked off one by one.

As much as this seems like it has been done before, and to be fair it has. This film is still very fun and I think a lot of people will really enjoy it! The scares are really great. The characters and the story arks are brilliant as well and the way the characters are connected is one of the endearing things about the film.

I wasn’t too sure where the film was going to go if I am honest. But I liked not knowing as it kept me on my toes.

My only criticism would be that the film took a while to really get to the horror part, this is not a bad thing but as the film was about an hour and 20 odd minutes and it took nearly 50 minutes to get to the horror, was a little worrying. However, the films conclusion and overall enjoyment overwrote this and I had such a blast with this film.

It is one I would say to certainly check out.
