Film Review - Aimee: The Visitor (2023)

Capability of unpredictability and mind awareness, seems the simple mainframe identikit for Aimee, an artificial intelligence persona visiting questionable individual, recluse hacker Scott Keyes (Dallas Schaefer) and taking over his life, first pleasurably, then intrusive before turning dangerously close.

Aimee The Visitor, written and directed by Full Moon Features honcho, independent Hollywood B-movie trailblazer, producer extraordinaire Charles Band (Troll, Spacehunter, Head of the Family) who specialised in straight to video movies of the 80s through 90s to beyond.

Charlie has always made the most out of slim budgets and more often than not, an even slimmer premise.

Scott, alongside his mates, Hunter (Felix Merback) and Gazelle (Faith West) team up to battle the wicked electronic seductress who not only takes over the abandoned loft where he ‘works’, but eventually the entire building, or at least the integrated circuitry. Gazelle and Scott are an on again, off again couple and means for Aimee to become jealous.

Imagine Siri as a femme fatale with a face domineering an embellished technology love triangle, with only one real likely human outcome, but not before sexual fireworks of various kinds during a premature 69 minute running time.

Forget that Aimee is really designed like a glorified screensaver, just go with it.

Angelically stunning, Faith West as Gazelle rises above, her conviction to the character in ludicrous situations whilst keeping it believable she has interest in foolish Scott, is commendable and talent within is sure to bubble over for all to see in a future project. In another version, Faith would have made a broader, more relatable Aimee.

With deceptive attributes literally across multiple screen, Liz Jordan depicts Aimee with appropriate mainframe capabilities, whilst the boys in the cast, are there.

It’s hard to be critical of Aimee The Visitor, with a dedicated cult movie fanbase on hand, Full Moon have been pumping out imaginative diversions for decades, this is no different.

Limit expectations, enjoy the absurdity and flashes of fun. It moves fast.

Future Cop, aka Trancers (1984) remains my absolute favourite in the Full Moon catalogue of thousands.
