You can’t hide from them with many newspapers even magazines have their adverts hiding in some corner of their publications. Yes I’m talking about those phone ‘sex’ adverts and next month Netflix will release the drama based on the original line with Dirty Lines.
The Dutch series is set in 1987 Amsterdam, the year the original ‘sex line’ was created. Following student Marly who takes a job at Teledutch studio ran by two oddball brothers. The company becomes an overnight success and Marly is onboard, a service that offer anonymous sex via a phone. A service that would challenge peoples views towards sex and morality.
The trailer really pushes the brothers arc as well as Marly who is at first unaware what’s she’s signed up for. The revolution won’t be televised, it will be on your phone! Check out the the series trailer below…
The story of Dirty Lines starts in 1987’s Amsterdam, at a time when Dutch society was changing rapidly. Psychology student Marly Salomon takes on a side job working for a brand new firm: Teledutch – a company started by two brothers, Frank and Ramon Stigter, who established Europe’s first erotic telephone lines. Frank and Ramon become rich overnight and Marly finds herself immersed in this wild and rapid transformation. The final years of the Cold War sparked a sense of hope and inspired a new generation to celebrate life to its fullest. Amsterdam became the center of that cultural revolution with a radically new form of music: house and a new love drug: XTC. The erotic phone lines offer the opportunity to experience anonymous sex in a new way, changing the morality of its consumers, but also very much the people creating it.
The series stars  Joy Delima, Minne Koole, Chris Peters, Charlie Chan Dagelet, Joes Brauers, Julia Akkermans, Abbey Hoes, Benja Bruijning, Eric van Sauers, and Andre Dongelmans.
Dirty Lines will premiere on Netflix from 8th April.
