New Featurettes, TV Spots For THE WOMAN IN BLACK, Film To Be 12A Rating

Last week we got our chance to review The Woman In Black and Dexter returned letting us know it is scary! Stay tuned for his full review. The film is once of the highly anticipated films for 2012 not just for the scares but the spotlight been on Daniel Radcliffe, his first major role after 10 years as Harry Potter.Maybe not the expected role for the young actor some maybe have thought a light hearted role instead of classic gothic haunted house horror, but like any up and coming career of any profession you have to start somewhere!

To get us into to mood for some ghostly scares and plenty of underwear changing 2 new tv spots have appeared online over the past day or two. First spot named “too late” When she is near, you will sense it. If she sees you, it’s too late, second spot is called “Never Forgive” She Lost her boy and now she’s come back! Arrghh! We also have 2 featurettes, first up is ‘”Behind The Haunting'” which we hear from the cast and crew who tell us more about the background of the film. The second featurette “Creating A Classic Ghost Story” is a behind-the-scenes look at what makes a classic, atmospheric ghost tale and how writer Jane Goldman alongside production company Hammer Films drew inspiration from Susan Hill’s acclaimed novel and theatre versions to create that film.

In further The Woman In Black news the BBFC have confirmed the film will have a 12A rating( equivalent to a PG-13 in USA) leading to around 6 seconds of the film been cut to secure the rating.

To obtain this category cuts of 0m 6s were required. Distributor chose to reduce moments of strong violence / horror in order to achieve a ’12A’ classification.” – bbfc spokes person  stated who also said ” In addition to the six seconds of visual cuts, substitutions were also made by darkening some shots and by reducing the sound levels on others.”

The board also advised  that the 94m 47s cut of The Woman in Blackcontains intense supernatural threat and horror” Obviously Momentum Pictures had the potential audience age group in mind  when they went for 12A, they want the Potter Maniacs to see this and if they took the offer of 15 which no cuts would have happened it may have made a difference to potential box office.

The Woman In Black Arrives February 10th (one week earlier USA).
