Emma Thompson Battles a Blizzard in Dead of Winter Trailer
Vertigo has released the trailer for its new action thriller Dead of Winter, starring Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson. The movie is set to arrive in cinemas on September 26, following its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival this month.

“Hit by a blizzard, a grief-stricken loner gets lost among backroads near a Minnesotan lake and stops for help at a remote cabin in the woods,” reads the synopsis. Here she discovers a young woman kidnapped by a desperate couple who are armed and intent on murder. Isolated and without cell service, this unlikely hero realizes she is the woman’s only hope of survival.”
Dead of Winter is directed by Brian Kirk from a screenplay by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb, and will see Thompson venture outside of her typical comedy and drama roles. The cast also includes Marc Menchaca, Gaia Wise, Judy Greer, Cuan Hosty-Blaney, Paul Hamilton, Lloyd Hutchinson and Brian F. O’Byrne. It is produced by Jon Berg, Greg Silverman, Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo.
