Emma D’Arcy Joins Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Untitled Movie
It has been officially confirmed in a new report from Deadline that House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy is the latest person to join Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s new project, which remains untitled at this time. They will be joining Tom Cruise in the movie that’s currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in the UK.
“I’m delighted to be working with such extraordinary and exacting artists as Alejandro and Tom. They are the masters of their craft, and witnessing them in combination has been a privilege,” D’Arcy told Deadline.
For this movie, Iñárritu is working with his Birdman co-writers Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, along with Sabina Bierman who also shares a screenwriting credit. All that is currently known of the synopsis is the following: the most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.
This Iñárritu first movie since 2022’s Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths. He has previously won the Academy Award for Best Director twice for The Revenant and Birdman, the latter of which also won Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture.
The cast for this untitled project includes Cruise as the lead with Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), John Goodman (Argo), Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) and Michael Stuhlbarg (Call Me by Your Name). When speaking with Deadline in February, Cruise said that he was having “the time of my life” working with the cast and Iñárritu on this movie.
D’Arcy is best known for their role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon. They garnered back-to-back Golden Globe nominations for their performance in the show. In terms of feature appearances, they last appeared in 2021’s Mothering Sunday, directed by Eva Husson. D’Arcy also produced and starred in the 2023 short film The Talent, which received a British Independent Film Award nomination for Best British Short.
Iñárritu’s new movie will premiere on October 2, 2026.
