When you add coming of age into your movies storyline, it’ opening a door of possibilities in what direction the movie could go.In the Edge Of Seventeen, they have decided to take the comedy route starring Hailee Steinfeld as the teen having the most awkward time of her life. First-time director, Kelly Fremon Craig, brings audiences an honest and original look at the one thing everyone goes through…growing up.

Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson)

All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be so terrible after all.

The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine’s well-meaning but completely ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson as Nadine’s History teacher, mentor and reluctant sounding board.

The movie made it’s debut at Toronto Film Festival closing one of the biggest film festivals in the world, which is an amazing feat for a first time director. You have to deliver something special and it garnered critical acclaim,which in comedy is a big feat as well.Let’s face it we’ve been there, teens and we all know our body clocks where potential minefields.The honesty, funny moments even a streak of weirdness delivered this movie it’s fantastic reviews. Very few comedies these days fall on flat ears but this one has something extra special and is why it’s made many people’s movies to watch for 2016.

The Edge Of Seventeen will be released in UK&Ireland by Entertainment One, later this month on 30th November (18th in USA).
