For years we’ve heard him sing and deliver ‘Smackdown Hotel‘ when he layeth the smacketh down on the jobronis in WWE. This December Dwayne Johnson will sing again and you can hear him in a new clip for Disney‘s animated adventure Moana. Johnson will play the demi-god Maui who has the charisma and cockiness of his old wrestling persona but the strength our protagonist Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) requires. In the clip, Maui likes to sing his accomplishments maybe not to the delights to those listenings, but does he care? He is a demi-god, ‘You’re Welcome’!
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Moana, a sweeping adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master Wayfinder and fulfil her ancestors’ unfinished quest. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.
Staying with Disney‘s latest adventure, they have teamed up with The Industry Trust for IP Awareness and the Moments Worth Paying For campaign. A new short trailer will run across cinema screens nationwide and features Dwayne Johnson speaking directly to the camera, as he shares with the audience what he thinks makes a great movie moment. According to Dwayne, it must look ‘amazing’, needs ‘blood pumping action’ and it has got to be watched with ‘good friends’! Before concluding that at the end of it all, adventures as huge as Moana, always need the big screen and are best seen at the cinema.
There’s only one place to see Moana when it arrives in UK&Ireland and that’s in your local cinema! You can see it from 2nd December also starring the voices of Alan Tudyk, Jemaine Clement, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Scherzinger.
