Wonderfully different and chilling.
Intruders is a new home invasion thriller, though this time the tables turn!
When Anna’s brother passes away from a long fight with cancer she has to struggle to deal with his death, with not having left the house in over ten years this proves challenging when her brothers funeral arrives. Deciding not to go she begins going through her day as normal, however her day gets interesting when a couple of Inturders break in. However what they don’t know is they broke into the round house.
As a fan of the home invasion sub genre of horror I was really excited to see this film and I am pleased top say that I was not let down. This was a great film, although it began to get slightly predictable near the end it didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment of the film.
Over the past few years there have been a few home invasion films such as You’re Next (2011) and The purge (2012?) both of which were game changers for the genre. I felt that was the same with this film it was a game changer and a fine good one! Switching up the normal events of a home invasion film and giving a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.
The acting was solid throughout though our main bad guy was a little over the top at times, but that’s really to be expected these days in this kind of film. Again it took nothing away from my enjoyment of the film.
I liked that the film is a more underground film being released (for the most part) direct to home release. Kind of gives a feel of those rare gems from the 80s that would be released on VHS, the films you thought should have been released in cinemas. This is one of those films.
Although for those gore hounds out there this is not the goriest of films but this is what I like to call realistic gore. It was quite a change form the normal gore fest horror films that seem to plague the horror genre today.
Overall I think intruders is a great, fun and creepy Home invasion thriller. It is one fo those films that caches you off guard. Although many people did not like the ending, I for one thought it was a solid, all round chiller.
