DVD Review – Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods
The wait is over as Dragon Ball Z is back with a brand new adventure for the first time in over a decade with Battle Of Gods; a film that sees the Goku and friends come face to face with their greatest challenge yet, a god!
Following the events of the Dragon Ball Z television series, after the defeat of Majin Buu, a new power awakens and threatens humanity. Beerus, an ancient and powerful God of Destruction, searches for Goku after hearing rumors of the Saiyan warrior who defeated Frieza. Realizing the threat Beerus poses to their home planet, the Z-fighters must find a way to stop him before it’s too late. Only Goku, humanity’s last hope, can ascend to the level of a legendary Super Saiyan God and stop Beerus from destroying Earth, and possibly the entire universe!
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods is what weโd come to expect from DBZ: Humour, Action, and plot twists. Though the plot twists werenโt that surprising, you could almost see them coming a mile off. Despite this there are a couple we donโt see coming, and those that we do, we are delighted about.
The action was mainly driven around Goku and Beerus, and it was very sparse unlike what we are used to, however at least it doesnโt take twenty episodes. Even though the number of good solid fight scenes was low, the fight scenes we see are pretty damn good.
The humour held it together. We all know that Goku isnโt the sharpest tool in the shed, and even now it is evident. Not only that but cold unemotional Vegeta is practically forced to do a dance number about Bingo to distract Beerus; hilarious plain and simple.
The bonus features are surprisingly good. Anime releases are stingy when it comes to bonus features; textless opening and closing, and a trailer or two. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods however has both Theatrical and Director cut editions plus some Behind the Voice Actors, which shows us what goes into creating the voices of our favourite characters.
Iโm going to give Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods three stars, but with the added Bonus Features, my overall rating will be four stars. Itโs definitely a must see for any DBZ Fan.
