Don’t Underestimate Rami Malek In The Amateur First Trailer

Don’t underestimate Rami Malek in the first UK Trailer for espionage thriller The Amateur. After playing the villain in the James Bond franchise, Malek finally gets a chance to be his own version of Bond?

The film is directed by James Hawes whose last film was One Life starring Anthony Hopkins. Hawes spent years working in British TV, however he has worked on streaming shows like Slow Horses, Doctor Who and Black Mirror.

Next to Rami Malek, The Amateur also stars Laurence Fishburne. Malek is Charlie a reserved CIA decoder who works from a basement in Langley. His life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a terrorist attack in London. Pushing Charlie to take action when those in power refuse to do anything embarking a journey worldwide to seek revenge.

This is a sort of underdog going all out Bond or even more Jason Bourne. Always one step ahead and for the actor a new direction for himself as a lead actor, looks good…

Charlie Heller (Malek) is a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.

The film also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, Danny Sapani, and Laurence Fishburne. 20th Century Studios will release The Amateur in UK, Irish  and U.S cinemas from 11th April 2025.
