Don’t Leave The Path! Watch UK Trailer For The Forest

Where fear grows what ever you do don’t leave the path as this forest is real! It wants to kill you! In the UK trailer for The Forest Game Of Thrones/Hunger Games star Natalie Dormer finds herself in the legendary Aokigahara Forest facing horrors for the third time.

If you love your urban myths or a fan of J-Horror (Japanese horror) the forest history will be known to you, one of a forest where people have committed suicide.Japan is a nation culturally rich in subject matter especially for Horror you wonder it’s taking Western filmmakers so long to discover its potential. J-Horror fans know how warped and crazy it can be,with The Ring, Dark Water and The Grudge all found themselves remade for Hollywood. Maybe its deep connection to Japanese culture that saw those films films flop possibly due to lost in translation. So maybe making the film from a fresh perspective might help The Forest succeed.

The Forest tells the story of A young American woman, Sara (Natalie Dormer), goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead that prey on anyone who wanders into the forest.

The tone of the film is rather creepy, but one that feels American rather than an American film trying to be a J-Horror. Overall the trailer does more to set up the story rather than giver an overall impression of the film. This has a big Blair Witch project feel to it too but hopefully they will play on the demon mythology that preys on those that stray from the path. The film marks the feature debut for director Jason Zada who hopefully will follow suit likes of James Wan, David Robert Mitchell with a successful first foray into horror genre.

The Forest also stars Taylor Kinney (Chicago Fire) and Eoin Macken (Merlin). The film is released in UK on 26th February 2016 , we have a hunch this might have a last festival play at Glasgow Film Festival (Frightfest?) too?
