Alicia Silverstone Returns As Cher In Clueless Sequel Series
As if! Cher Horowitz is officially making her comeback. Paramount+ has greenlit a sequel event series to the beloved 1995 teen comedy Clueless, with Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her iconic role as Beverly Hills’ most fashionable teenager more than 30 years later.
Picking up three decades after the original film, the series finds Cher all grown up. Now a successful businesswoman and devoted mother, she has seemingly figured everything out – until her teenage daughter starts high school, leaving her feeling “clueless” all over again.
Silverstone will also serve as an executive producer alongside Clueless writer and director Amy Heckerling, who returns to the franchise behind the scenes. The series comes from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl, Nancy Drew) and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface), with CBS Studios producing.
The announcement follows the film’s 30th anniversary celebrations, which reunited members of the original cast and Heckerling for a special 35mm screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Clueless has also recently been added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, cementing its place as one of the most influential teen comedies of the 1990s.
Production is set to begin in Los Angeles in 2027, with the sequel series premiering exclusively on Paramount+.
