Disney+ Review – Wandavision Episode 5
This review contains spoilers
This week on Wandavision, โOn a Very Special Episodeโ Wanda and Vision enter the 80s as they struggle in their roles as new parents. Coming back to the sitcom format from last weekโs episode set solely in the world outside Westview, the episode begins with Wanda trying to get her twins to sleep with little luck. Neighbour Agnes comes over to lend a hand, resulting in another moment of oddity as Agnes askes Wanda โshould I take it from the top?โ after fluffing a line โ causing Vision to become suspicious. The moment is soon distracted as the twins age five years in five seconds.
After more disruption between Wanda and Vision, Vision finds himself searching for the truth about the world he lives in while the twins persuade Wanda to let them keep a dog they found. Outside Westview, S.W.O.R.D. continue to work out whatโs going on. The episode ends with a confrontation between Vision and Wanda and a surprise visitor at the door โ a โrecastโ Pietro Maximoff, Quicksilver and Wandaโs brother, this time played by Evan Peters.

I wonโt lie, the ending made me shriek with delight! For those that donโt know, Pietro was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) where he dies. However, in 2014, the character of Quicksilver also appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past where he was portrayed as Evan Peters. Itโs genius having him come back in a completely different universe โ even better because, while Taylor-Johnson was good in his role, I really loved Peterโs Quicksilver. He was so funny and witty and undoubtedly overshadowed the MCU version.
The rest of the episode was good, Iโm very much enjoying the title sequences, this week’s no exception. Visionโs realisations that Wanda was controlling Westview were interesting and important โ I donโt think it needed to be prefaced with scenes from the outside. Iโm still unconvinced with the world outside and by Monica although there was an interesting moment when Captain Marvelโs name was mentioned and a pained expression came upon her face. Hinting at something going down between her mother and Carole Danvers in the future Captain Marvel movies?
Vision and Wandaโs fight were intense and dramatic, which I loved. But really the highlight of this episode was that ending โ Iโm not over it. Bring on next week.
