Disney+ Review – Monsters At Work (Episode 1+ 2)

Disney+ series, Monsters at Work is a spin-off series to Monsters Inc, launching exclusively on Disney+ from the 7th July. Starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman who reprise their roles as Mike & Sulley, the series also includes brand new characters voiced by Ben Feldman, Mindy Kaling, Henry Winkler and Kelly Marie Tran to name a few.

Synopsis

“Monsters At Work” takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams.

It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in.

After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team(MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

Produced by Disney Television Animation and inspired by the world of Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-winning “Monsters, Inc.,”the series introduces new monster characters alongside returning favourites. 

Review

If you love Monsters Inc you are going to love the new spin-off Disney series Monsters at Work. We are treated to the original voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman as Sulley and Mike and a whole host of new monsters too, who mainly work in the MIFT department – Monsters Inc. Facilities Team.

This group of misfits reminds me so much of the Oozma Kappa (OK) group of monsters from Monsters University who we all grew to love and adore. The MIFT department match Oozma Kappa type of antics and attitude.

With both Monsters University and Monsters Inc humour rolled into the Monsters at Work series, this is going to be one monster of series to enjoy and love.

Mini movies each week to keep all your Monster fans happy, this is a great winning series for Disney+. Double thumbs up from my 9-year-old.
