Disney Reveal Ava DuVernay’s Fantasy A Wrinkle in Time First Trailer

Disney is slowly revealing all the goodies from its D23 Expo and tonight’s main trailer highlight Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time first UK trailer.

Directed by Ava DuVernay (13th, Selma), the film is a reimagining of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel that takes Meg Murry (Storm Reid in her first feature acting role), her brilliant brother Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin on an unexpected journey into alternate dimensions on a mission to bring home their father.

The movie is currently in post production and the first stand out on the first viewing will be Oprah Winfrey‘s costumes, unique and spectacular. This also seems to be one of the reasons Oprah decided to star in this movie as well as working with DuVernay whom she worked with on Selma. DuVernay is also the first African American director to receive a $100 million plus budget too.

First impressions it’s been used wisely with something wild, imaginative, refreshingly different from the usual array of gritty blockbusters. It could also be seen as a risk trying something a little different from their other Disney movies. They maybe a little drab but those mostly delivered strong box office returns. Here’s hoping this not one of those false hopes, this is the house of Disney and they rarely let us down, hopefully, no pirates (Sorry Johnny).

A Wrinkle In Time will arrive in Uk and Irish cinemas from 23rd March 2018. Co-starring Oprah Winfrey as Mrs Which, Chris Pine as Alex Murry, Mindy Kaling as Mrs Who, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs Whatsit.Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Mrs Murry, Zach Galifianakis as The Happy Medium, André Holland as Principal Jenkins.
