David Tennant Joining The Cast For The Thursday Murder Club

Richard Osman‘s The Thursday Murder Club is set for adaptation on Netflix. Today the streaming giants announced David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens),is joining the cast.

Also joining are Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes, The Crown), Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice, Master of None), Daniel Mays (Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Franklin) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve, We Were the Lucky Ones).

Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter) is set to direct and produce.

The new cast members roles are still unknown at this stage. They will be joining Helen Mirren (ex-spy Elizabeth), Sir Ben Kingsley (ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim) Pierce Brosnan (former union activist Ron) and Celia Imrie (ex-nurse Joyce). Mirren, Brosnan, Kingsley and Imrie are set to play the four members of the club.

The Thursday Murder Club tells the story follows a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case.

Richard Osman’s novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was released to great acclaim and popularity in 2020 and created a devoted fanbase.

Osman will be known more for his television work thank his writing. For many years as the main quizmaster on BBC‘s Pointless and more recently House Of Games.

This is the latest film to be produced as part of Netflix and Amblin’s film partnership, which also includes the upcoming Carry-On starring Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.

Netflix have not mentioned when they plan to start production or potential release date.
