Danny Boyle Confirming Third 28 Days Later Film In The Works?

This Friday Danny Boyle’s Yesterday will be in UK Cinemas. The director is currently on the film’s promotional tour and has revealed a third 28 Days Later film might be in the works.
The 2002 apocalyptic horror 28 Days Later starred Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders). An bike courier who awakes from a coma in a abandoned hospital. When he ventures outside to discover the deserted London and UK has succumbed to the Rage Virus.
The film gave the British horror genre a much needed boost and 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later was equally strong. This time Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Renner, Imogen Poots star. In London once again as NATO attempts to re start society, things go wrong.
There was talk then of a third film, with 28 Months later as the possible title. That was 12 years ago. Now in an interview with the Independent, he’s mentioned he has an ‘wonderful idea’ for the third film.
“Alex Garland and I have a wonderful idea for the third part,” he said. “It’s properly good.”

“The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that. It doesn’t feel stale at all. He’s concentrating on directing his own work at the moment, so it’s stood in abeyance really, but it’s a you-never-know.” Boyle continues.
Alex Garland worked with Boyle on these films and is keen to work on the third one. Since 28 Weeks Later Garland has established himself as an successful director too. Ex_Machina and Annihilation critically worked well for Garland could he be lined up to direct/co-direct? he’ll be wanting more opportunities to succeed and this one could be perfect tonic for him.
Could Brexit be the perfect back bone for the next film? Will it be 28 Months Later or 28 Years Later? Whatever one we’re on board.
