Starring his father, Daniel Day-Lewis, who makes his long-awaited return to our screens after eight years, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread, his previous appearance. What better place for that return in his son’s directorial feature debut? The burning question is whether the return will be a full return or something more limited. But what better sign of confidence, support for Ronan from his old man, who is an acting institution.

Anemone is described as a family drama which also stars Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green.

The film is set in Northern England and dives into the family bond between brothers, fathers, and sons. A journey that one man (Bean) takes to reconnect with his estranged brother (Day-Lewis). What brought the two of them to come back together now is unknown; the trailer teases both possibly former soldiers suffering from PTSD. The crashing weather and conditions, possibly something else we might see, suggest Anemone (windflower) might also have horror elements.

Official Synopsis:
ANEMONE explores the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons.

Anemone is set for a 7th November UK and Irish cinema release. If you live in the U.S, Focus Features will give the film a Limited release first on 3rd October, then a full release a week later.ย
