Cold War Drama Despite The Falling Snow Gets UK Trailer
She was the breakout star of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation  now Rebecca Ferguson is once again on a ‘mission’ in Despite The Falling Snow. In the film’s UK trailer she swaps the hi-tech espionage  of modern spy fare for Cold War 1950’s  which shows even enemies can fall in love in dangerous times.
Written and directed by Shamim Sarif adapted from her original novel,Despite The Falling Snow we find ourselves in Moscow, 1959. Embroiled in a plot to steal secrets for the Americans at the height of the Cold War, Katya Grinkova (Rebecca Ferguson) finds herself torn between love and duty when she falls for her target, idealistic Soviet politician Alexander Ivanov (Sam Reid). As Alexander prepares for a diplomatic mission to the USA and the net closes around her, Katya must decide whether to sacrifice her love to protect him.
New York, 1992. Alexander Ivanov (Charles Dance) is still haunted by the disappearance of his beloved Katya after his forced defection from the U.S.S.R. After 30 years of uncertainty, a surprising discovery may finally help him discover the truth about her sacrifice.
After Rogue Nation this film marks an important busy year for the Swedish actor with Florence Foster Jenkins,Jo Nesbo’s The Snowman and the highly anticipated thriller The Girl On The Train coming up soon. If everything goes well in all of the mentioned films they will firmly establish the actress not just for her action chops but her drama ones too.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Raven), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Antje Traue (Man of Steel) and Thure Lindhardt (Keep The Lights On) complete the cast.
