Chris Pine is no stranger to playing kings and he is set to play a King again in Disney’s Wish.  The Dungeons & Dragon’s star is set to voice of King Magnifico, the ruler of Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true.

Like many things the past few days, this news was announced at CinemaCon. The news announced by the studios  executive vice president, Tony Chambers. The film also helps mark the culmination of Disney100, a yearlong celebration honouring the legacy of Walt Disney.

As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some,” said Jennifer Lee, the film’s executive producer and one of the writers.

Wish introduces Asha, a sharp-witted idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star set out to prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Chris Pine will be joining the already announced cast of  Ariana DeBose, who voices a young woman named Asha in the film. Plus  Alan Tudyk will voice  Asha’s favourite goat, Valentino.

The film will be directed by Chris Buck (Frozen films) with Peter Del Vecho (Frozen films) plus Juan Pablo Reyes (Encanto) co-producing. Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice will produce original songs alongside Dave Metzger who  will compose the score.

Walt Disney Studios are set to release Wish in UK, Irish and U.S Cinemas from 22nd November.
