Cats First Trailer Look Like CGI Disaster

Cats (2019)

A little earlier than expected, Universal Pictures has released the first Trailer for Cats. The classical long running, highest box office return West End musicals ever. The burning question on many fans lips…does it look good? No!

Let’s restart that question, it all depends on how much you love this Andrew Lloyd Weber musical. If you trust the cast to deliver the big songs, dance moves convincing the viewers they are felines. On the stage the actors are in suits and prosthetic, in this version it’s CGI. A CGI disaster. Frankly very creepy.

Tom Hooper (Les Miserables) is the director in this one. Can he make a musical that has no plot, very few memorable songs, will it work out? Check out the Cats Trailer below…

Featuring Lloyd Webberโ€™s iconic music and a world-class cast of dancers under the guidance of Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), the film reimagines the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street to tap.

Universal Pictures presents a Working Title Films and Amblin Entertainment production, in association with Monumental Pictures and The Really Useful Group. Cats is produced by Debra Hayward, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Tom Hooper. The screenplay is by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, Rocketman) and Hooper, based on Old Possumโ€™s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot and the stage musical by Lloyd Webber. Cats is executive produced by Lloyd Webber, Steven Spielberg, Angela Morrison and Jo Burn.
