Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor Trailer Will Melt Your Brain
It’s been a long time since Brandon Cronenberg‘s stylishly surreal Antiviral. Earlier this year that long wait was over at Sundance Film Festival, with the release of Possessor. Neon Pictures has released the Red and Green Band Trailers for the film and once again it looks disturbing, fiendishly stylish, very violent.
Brandon’s surname will sound very familiar as he’s the son iconic filmmaker David Cronenberg (Videodrome, The Fly). Despite his father having a distinctive style, Brandon himself has shaped his own vision.
Andrea Risenborough is the main lead in Possessor, she plays an an elite corporate assassin. Using advanced technology to ‘possess’ a person to take out their targets.
The film got some fantastic reviews at Sundance Film Festival. This visually looks superb and Brandon is picking up some of his dad’s vibes ala Videodrome. From the reviews this has scenes considered graphic, so expect a 18 certificate. Especially on the body horror side of things a sub-genre the Croneberg’s seem to have mastered. A strange but intriguing film, we want more!
From the visionary mind of writer/director Brandon Cronenberg, POSSESSOR is an arresting sci-fi thriller about elite, corporate assassin Tasya Vos. Using brain-implant technology, Vos takes control of other people’s bodies to execute high profile targets. As she sinks deeper into her latest assignment Vos becomes trapped inside a mind that threatens to obliterate her.
The film also co-stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Bean, Tuppence Middleton, Christopher Abbott, Kaniehtiio Horn, Rossif Sutherland, Christopher Jacot, and Hanneke Talbot.
Possessor doesn’t have a confirmed U.S release date. As for UK and Ireland there is no word who will be distributing the film.
