BFI Set To Release Mark Jenkin’s Rose Of Nevada In UK and Ireland

BFI Distribution announces the acquisition of Rose of Nevada, for theatrical release in the UK and Ireland.

The film is written and directed by Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin which stars  George MacKay and Callum Turner,  The film had its world premiere in August at the Venice International Film Festival, playing also Toronto Film Festival. It has its UK premiere in Official Competition at the BFI London Film Festival on Monday 13th October (all screenings sold out).

BFI Distribution has a long and successful relationship with Mark Jenkin, previously releasing his BAFTA award winning first feature Bait in August 2019, followed by Enys Men in January 2023.

A boat, the Rose of Nevada, lost with all hands 30 years ago, mysteriously reappears in the old harbour of a Cornish fishing village. For the few who remember, it’s a sign. The boat must go out to sea again and maybe then the luck of the devastated village will turn. Nick (George MacKay) and Liam (Callum Turner) join the crew, and they head to sea. But on their return to harbour something is amiss. They’ve slipped back in time, and the villagers greet them as if they are the original crew.

Mark Jenkin commented on the news “BFI Distribution have been there since the start with me. From recognising the commercial potential of Bait, through the amazing work they did around the release of Enys Men, it now seems entirely fitting that we partner again on Rose of Nevada and complete this Cornish trilogy.”

Rose of Nevada will be released in UK and Irish cinemas in 2026.
