Whilst Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice continues to divide opinions, the animated adventures of Batman continue to excite. Batman : The Killing Joke first trailer arrives online to much excitement uniting those divided, check it out…

Rarely do animated features not truly aimed at the little ones create such a buzz but as this film announced at last Summers San Diego Com Con, but why such excitement?

Batman: The Killing Joke is based around Alan Moore legendary Graphic Novel, regarded by some as highly controversial story arc that delves deep into the origins of Batman’s iconic nemesis. It’s dark, sinister, tale of Joker and his psychotic journey to Kill Jim Gordon. However those who have read the graphic Novel know it’s the horrific treat of Barbara Gordon that made this an real eye opener.

To many this is the definitive incarnation of The Joker that shaped how we view the character and the one that shaped Heath Leadger‘s rendition. To many this is one of the best ever Batman stories and when you read Alan Moore’s Dark Knight stories they are extra ordinary and you appreciate why many fans want to see Moore’s Batman in movies.

As well as the feature we have a 10 minute behind the scenes look at the upcoming animation which dives into the creation of the much loved story. We see Barbara Gordon’s story is slightly expanded with many of the creative team talking about the difficulties of simplifying the stunning artwork to animated form. It’s stripped down stuff but questions are been asked, how ‘R-Rated’ will Batman: The Killing Joke will be? As long as they stay honest to the book’s novel this will likely be a 15 in UK possibly 12 if Warner Bros push it all the way.

Luke Skywalker himself Mark Hamill will return to play his ‘dream role’ as the voice of The Joker with Kevin Conroy also returning to play The Dark Knight. Batman: The Killing Joke is set for a Comic Con premiere this July with the home release later this year or early next year.
