In recent weeks it has been speculated that WWE officials are considering a serious push for Baron Corbin. Last week Smackdown Live! Commissioner Shane McMahon suspended Corbin for a week, following a sneak attack on Sami Zayn on Talking Smack. In addition to this Corbin shoved an official, which led to his suspension.
At this point due to the kayfabe suspension, rumors of a repackage for the Lone Wolf have been in the rumor-mill.
Vast Improvement From The Lone Wolf
Since his arrival to Smackdown Live! Baron Corbin has vastly improved his in-ring work. Additionally his mic-skills during promos have also gained notable strength. Thus with this in mind both of these factors point towards an overall improvement from Baron Corbin. However while he may not be amongst the best superstars on the active WWE roster, there is no reason to suggest he cannot become one of the best within the near future.
Now I am not Dave Meltzer and I would not dare to compare myself to him, but one has to acknowledge just how far Corbin has come in the past year. From being the surprise winner of the 2016 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal to putting on strong matches with the likes of AJ Styles, Corbin has come on leaps and bounds. Furthermore I genuinely believe he is the most improved WWE superstar in the past two years.
Repackaging For A Potential Push?
As I previously stated before, this kayfabe suspension for Baron Corbin could be a sign. A sign that WWE are now considering a serious push for him. At this point I believe he is one of the top heels in the company but he needs just that something extra, to push him over the line. It could be a new entrance theme or maybe new attire? Regardless Corbin is seemingly in the eye of a push. This is good business for Smackdown, as they continue to push new blood for the future.
By the end of this year, it would be great if Corbin was already a WWE United States Champion. This is because he merits a strong position in the mid-card, as I believe he can capably lead the mid-card for the remainder of the year. Even if WWE were willing to provide him with a feud for the WWE Championship after the Summer, why not? It will provide experience for Corbin and really show what he is made of.
What do you think? Do you think Baron Corbin is WWE’s next to heel superstar? How would you book him? Let us know in the comments below!
