B.J Novak’s Amazing Spiderman 2 Character Revealed To Be A Villain

The quest continues to figure out how many villains The Amazing Spiderman 2 will really have as trailers, clips, posters entice us what we can expect. Director Marc Webb also loves to tease us with little nuggets of revelations and now he has just confirmed B.J Novak will be the latest actor to be revealed as a villain.

Whilst promoting the Inglorious Basterds stars new book ‘One More Thing’ via his twitter account he will be A.Smythe or better known to Spiderman fans as Alistair Smythe!

If your not a fan of the comic books or animation Alistair Smythe is the son of Spencer Smythe the Oscorp scientist responsible for creating the army of robotic spider slayers. As Alistair is crippled a special ‘slayer suit’ was created for him making him the ultimate spider slayer working with Norman Osborn and J.Jonah Jamieson to capture Spiderman.

We can easily say Smythe is no friend of Peter Parker/Spiderman but how much of The Amazing Spiderman 2 he’ll be involved in we don’t know. Alistair Smythe’s story is similar to Harry Osborn’s both lose their fathers which could suggest that this could be setting up a future storyline or further cementing the fact, The Sinister Six will be involved in the Spiderman franchise at one stage of the franchise. Even a interview with Spencer at Daily Bugle (viral) site the pair may unite at one stage.

Marc Webb is not scared to stack up the odds against Spidey by adding another villain (with hints of more to come) which could over stuff the new film with baddies. Even with Electro (Jamie Foxx), Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Norman & Harry Osborn (Chris Cooper & Dane Dehaan) all already in the film, fans of the comic book know Spiderman is used to a number of villains attempting to take him out.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 will be with us 18th April (USA 2nd May) with Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Colm Feore, Sally Field and Felicity Jones.
