ARROW Channel Will Be ‘Brilliant And Bizarre’

The second month of a new year, is only 5 days away, have you given up on those resolutions? If the new healthy lifestyle regime you promised yourself has ended before you even broke a sweat. ARROW has a selection of essential, alternative that will have you stick to one resolution ARROW channel, with February promising to be ‘Brilliant and Bizarre’. Sci-fi comedies Gaspar Noe, restored obscurities and B-movie gems from the wild world of Vinegar Syndrome, Michael Haneke, Yorgos Lanthimos and more…
In February, the channel premieres LAGUNA AVE., a truly offbeat slice of surrealistic mayhem that Film Threat says “comes on like a 90s-era slacker comedy and goes out on a note of apocalyptic dread”. Featuring a lead performance from Russell Steinberg (Days Out of Days, Adventureland) in a US indie at its most entertaining and original. A nutty blend of Kevin Smith’s Clerks, Darren Aronofsky’s Pi, Swingers and Tetsuo: The Iron Man, LAGUNA AVE. is an address you really need to visit as soon as possible.
Also in February, FUNNY GAMES: THE MICHAEL HANEKE COLLECTION, featuring both the original and the US version of FUNNY GAMES, the achingly poignant AMOUR, Palme d’Or winner HIDDEN, monochrome masterpiece THE WHITE RIBBON, as well as the fascinating 2013 documentary about this uncompromising auteur, MICHAEL H. PROFESSION: DIRECTOR.
There is more unmissable arthouse in February, with Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER, the director’s stunning international breakout feature starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan (THE ETERNALS); and LOVE, from the always-controversial and Gaspar Noe, this time turning his provocative gaze onto a passionate relationship in Paris.
Another must-watch in February is THE SLEEPER MUST AWAKEN: MAKING DUNE, a feature length documentary looking at David Lynch’s ambitious attempt to put Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic onto the big screen in 1984.
February also includes GARETH EVANS SELECTS, with the director of THE RAID selecting 30 of his favourite films on ARROW, with some spectacular classics including Dark Waters and Versus; bizarre cinematic brilliance in Vinegar Syndrome Collection Vol 1, including Angel, Avenging Angel, and Blood Harvest; the fusion of flesh and metal in Man/Machine with the likes of Tetsuo: The Iron Man and Burst City; Kick-start My Heart, a selection of wild action movies unlike any you’ve seen before, including The Zero Boys, Wolf Guy, White Fire, and Blood Tide; and The Curse of True Love, some genuinely stirring, sweet and tender love stories, ARROW-style, such as A Ghost Waits, Zombie for Sale and Marty Loves Katie.
ALSO SHOWING: Greg Araki’s apocalyptic mindblower KABOOM; pure video nastiness in the cult shocker DON’T GO IN THE HOUSE; Isaballe Huppert in Hal Hartley’s hypnotic AMATEUR; the hair-raising horror comedy sequel ANOTHER WOLFCOP; and Jack Palance chewing up the screen in DAN CURTIS’ DRACULA; and more…
