Anthony Hopkins maybe gaining plaudits for his upcoming Oscar nominated Father, his next film he’ll send a spend a chill down your spine. Today Lionsgate Films release the UK Trailer for slick neo-noir thriller The Virtuoso.
Every betrayal begins with trust. Hopkins plays a cold blooded boss who sends a professional assassin (Anson Mount) into a quiet leafy town. With very little info on who he has to ‘take out’ ( time, location, cryptic clue) his target. Heading to the location he has several targets, things are about to be derailed by someone determined to rip apart the assignment.
No one can argue when it comes to playing the masterful villain, Hopkins is one of the best. This one doesn’t have Chianti or even Clarice, Hopkins is pulling the strings here. Is his hitman the one he’s deceiving or the viewer?
Danger, deception, and murder descend upon a sleepy country town when a professional assassin (Mount) accepts a new assignment from his enigmatic mentor (Hopkins).
Given only a time, a location, and a cryptic clue, the methodical hit man must identify his mysterious foe from among several possible targets, including a local sheriff (David Morse, The Green Mile). Meanwhile, a chance encounter with an alluring woman (Abbie Cornish, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) at the town’s rustic diner threatens to derail his mission altogether.
The film also stars Abbie Cornish, Diora Baird, Eddie Marsan, David Morse, and Richard Brake.
The Virtuoso will be released in the UK and Ireland first on Digital Download from 30th April. Then on DVD from 10th May, Lionsgate are also releasing the film in the U.S with a limited cinema and Video On Demand release from 30th April.
